I just purchased a new iphone 3g (just the phone, no contract). I also have a sim unlock (universal sim). I was wondering should i use winpwn to jailbreak my iphone 3g? or use quickpwn?? bcuz it is a NEW iphone 3g so i needed activated...will quickpwn activate it? but i want to be able to have it running on firmware 2.2 and i want to be able to have the soft unlock that releases this new years!

The only way to accomplish this would be to use pwnage (mac only) to build a 2.2 firmware without updating the baseband. If you don't have access to a mac then you'll have to find somewhere to down one already built.

^Essentially unless, as Poseidon said, you find a custom firmware built on a Mac or have someone do it for you without the updated baseband.

You could just use 2.1 which is basically the same thing, just with less reported signal strength and apparently a bit slower... I'd stay there until you see how the software unlock on 12/31 goes.
