If you are using Windows, Quickpwn 2.2 will unlock and jailbreak.
This guide should help you:

yup yup yup. everything you will need for the whole process is there. and to unlock it just make sure you select the option to "unlock and activate" in quickpwn and also DESELECT installer. DO NOT install installer! please. its only causes issues.
if you are already on 2.2 just download the 2.2 file in that tutorial...start quickpwn..then select it when you open quickpwn. you should be all good to go. feel free to ask any other questionsLast edited by cricketlang; 12-15-2008 at 07:36 PM.

so you need to put it into dfu mode and then restore. then before it even TOUCHES itunes you do the unlock in quickpwn THEN connect with itunes. you have to make sure you follow the process step by step. if you need help getting into dfu mode i put a link here on how to do that

Ive been reading in the Tmobile section but I just want to make sure this is right. I just upgraded to a 3G but Im giving my girlfriend my 2G and she has TMobile. So since its unlocked and jailbroken already I put in her sim card and it said I needed to connect it to Itunes...I have not done that yet because I dont want to mess anything up with my 3G itunes stuff...should i connect it or not? After that I saw I needed to haev the tsone added 5.99 then chnace the APN settings.....where are those settings at? I hope I can get this to work tonight. thanks

ok so you need to get her on 2.2 so start from scratch just to be safe. follow this guide here on how to install 2.2 and unlock it for tmobile. it works perfectly because thats EXACTLY what im on and how i did it. just follow the steps and when you are quickpwning it just select the "unlock and activate" and youll be fine

I assume she keeps her blackberry on her account...but what kind of data plans does she need? How do I get all the internet stuff and mms working? Do I need to install swirlymms like I have on my ATT Iphone? thanks

Just get the regular internet package not the blackberry one and type internet2.voicestream.com in the APN settings and your good to go
the APN settings are under general settings-network

you need to be on 2.2 you dont need a blackberry plan. they are gonna try to sell you the unlimited internet package for like 35 bucks. just try to find which package you like and then get that one. i have 5.99 unlimited but thats HELL to get.

Alright not to thread jack but I just wanted to know since this will be my first time unlocking my iphone on my own. What happens to all my apps that I've downloaded? Do they stay in my itunes when i restore it after upgrading to 2.2? Also should I leave my Tmobile sim card in while doing this whole process?
