Default Is my iPhone actually unlocked?

So I have 3 8 gig iPhone 2g's and I'm working on unlocking them to sell since my whole family upgraded to the 3g's. I used Quickpwn 2.2 I believe with 2.2 firmware and clicked the unlock and install cydia boxes when doing it and it completed and said it worked. I'm wondering if there are any quick ways to check to see if the phone is actually unlocked before I sell them advertised as so I don't look stupid. This is probably a common question so any help or responses would be much appreciated. I'm about to go to a friend's and just put on their sim cards in there and see if it gets service but I'll check here tomorrow and see if there were any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

    I do this alot.

I went to Tmobile and bought a simcard from them for $10. Inserting another carrier's simcard is in my opinion the only/best way to make sure everything is working.

Wow very quick response. And thank you I will definitely do that tonight. If it doesn't work is that an indicator that it is definitely not unlocked?

Yeah, if you throw a Tmo simcard in and the phone says "Invalid Simcard" then its NOT unlocked.

If it goes in and shows Tmobile as the logo next to the signal bars....you're good to go.
