Default Preliminary rebelsim + iphone 3g with 2.28 baseband report

    Hi Guys,

Newbie iphone 3g user but long term mac user here, so after my formal introduction here are my findings!

After resetting my 3UK simcard in my other phone (htc touch diamond yuck!!) and using it with the rebel sim (latest firmware downloaded) i can happily report.

    1. full 3g access to 3 uk network
    2. full signal and no drop outs so far
    3. sms working fine
    4. calls not tested yet as at work! *ahem*
    5. wifi working

I was very apprehensive about ordering one of these proxy sims due to a lot of reports of them working or not working or working for a while and then packing up.

From my initial findings it's going well and happy with my purchase so far, of course a software unlock would be better but in the meantime this is working as good as expected.

Will update everyone in a few days with more findings

My location feature working ok, not as good as with the O2 sim but not too bad, beejiveim works fine as well as google apps as well.

No drop outs of the signal yet!

Default Problem with 3UK & iphone

Did you manage to get calls working ok?

I'm using 3Uk simcard in iphone 3g (v2.2) with a turbosim and I've got a couple of issues. First, texts can sometimes take ages to come through (they usually come all in one go and I get hit with about 20 at once). Not so much an issue, the main problem is I can only receive calls if I have an active data connection (i.e. browsing safari, refreshing mail). If I'm not doing these things then caller goes to voicemail after a few seconds wait. I can make calls fine, I can send texts, I can browse (its seriously fast too on 3g, much better than on my nokia N95), but not being able to receive calls is a blocker.

    Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

I had the same problems with incoming calls when on 3UK network as well... it seems right now well at least for the rebelsim is to set it to work purely on 2g mode and then all incoming calls and sms work fine.

One thing i do know is other people on the o2 network get lors of delays with receiving sms's too on their iphone so maybe it's a weird firmware issue

    Hope it helps!

    thanks !
any ideas how I do that? If I turn off 3g setting on iphone I lose connection to 3 altogether and it says no service. Is there another way to flick between 2g and 3g mode?

i emailed rebelsim support about that very same issue and they said they are aware of the problem and to expect new firmware soon, not sure about turbosim though??.

the problem is that 3 don't have a 2g network so by changing from 3g to 2g you are trying to go onto Orange and this is where i think the problem is

to fix it what you have to do is this.

    1. put the sim in a nokia phone (preferable)
    2. change the network from dual band to gsm only
    3. go to Google or any other web page
    4. very important bit.... turn off 3g on the iphone
    5. put back in the sim with the turbosim and keep your fingers crossed!

this worked for me but your results may vary.

Thanks for the help and instructions - unfortunately soon as I turn off 3g on the iphone I lose connection to 3 altogether. I think I'll try a rebel sim and see if I have any better luck.
