Unlock/jailbreak 3G

Hello,

I am trying to get my hands on an iPhone 3G.

My plan was to get one from the states.

First of all can I unlock using some software, currently i have a 2G and use quickpwn to unlock and jailbreak and was hoping there is something like that for 3G aswell.

If i jailbreak the 3G can i use a different mobile carrier?

If there is no software, any ideas when it will be out. I know there is a sim method of unlocking the iphone.

Can i buy the 3G iphone from the apple store or best buy and not have a contract? will it be unlocked?

If i can find answers to these questions elsewhere could you kindly direct me accordingly.

The dev-team is working hard on a software unlock for the 3G, but until then you'll need to use a SIM adapter. And no, you have to buy it with a contract, no matter where you buy it from (unless you want to pay the full price ($700-800)) I believe, but it will not be unlocked.

Thanks ALL DAY, since Im not going to stay in the states so I would want be contract free. If i'm going down that route where do i buy it from? apple store?

I think you can buy it from either Apple or AT&T without a contract now, as previously mentioned for $700-$800. Someone feel free to correct me if this isn't the process right now.
