Vodafone sim card in iPhone 3G

Hi all,

I'm sure this topic has been covered many a time, but I am looking for someone to recommend the software that I will need to put my Vodafone sim card into an iPhone 3G without losing functions....?

The 3G won't allow you to use a Vodafone SIM, unless it is an factory unlocked iPhone from Apple unless the authorised carrier is Vodafone).

At present there is not a software unlocking solution.

You caould use a SIM adaptor, like Turbo SIM, but you may not get 3G access or network reliability.

An alternative is to have the baseband re-flashed which involves taking the iPhone apart. I'm not aware of anyone offering this service in th UK.

Hong Kong and Vietnam have the service available at circa. $150.

The disadvantage of this method is that it will need to be re-done with each subsequesnt firmware release from Apple.

I've got a vodafone sim in using Gevey-Sim but can't seem to do 3G. Has anyone got settings that work?

Try turning Data roam on. Does your Edge work?

yep data roaming is on. Edge seems not to work either

I use 3G with no problems at all. Make sure you have the following settings APN: Internet. Username: wap Password: wap. Data romming ON and 3G on now as long as you are in range of a 3G signal it will work. It will also swap from 3G to 2G when it drops the 3G signal. dont forget "thankyou" button
