    Default What should be done?

I have a 2G 8gb I phone now running on 2.1 firmware and I think it is unlocked. I don't have another sim card to test it though. I plan on going to Germany for a week to study there and I need to use my iphone.

Should I use the iclarified guide on how to unlock 2G 2.2 firmware? I hear that people are getting unrecognized SIM errors if they try a different SIM card after the process.

I dont have another SIM to put in there if this is the case, so what should I do, just wait?

just start from scratch using the iclarified guide. install the 2.2 firmware as well. ive not heard any sim errors at all. just make sure you select unlock phone while in quickpwn

I hope you are right, I was reading the comments on iclarified under the tutorial and people who went through the process with their ATT cards and finished, put a new SIM in and it say "Wrong SIM inserted," so I figured I would research a little. There is a few posts regarding this topic here too I think but none have a viable solution that everyone agrees to as working.

you should have the sim card that you're gonna use when you start unlocking/jailbreaking.
or else it will have a sim detection error.
this happend with me when i did pawnage without any sim card installed.
i put my sim card after the pawnage and got the error.
i would recommend that you do the pawnage whenever you have the sim card.

I was told to unlock with no sim card installed, and it is not working for me...so now i dont know what to do...i dont think its a good idea to even try to unlock without definately knowing if its going to work or not...i switched to tmobile recently, and i am stuck with a iphone and tmobile service, and i cant combine the two for whatever reason, and no one here has been able to explain to me why...so be careful..

well whoever told you to unlock without a sim is dead wrong!
    whatever carrier you're in
you should put the sim first step before unlocking!
modifying your phone in any way is a risk
so its up to you if you do it
but there are people out there
to help you out if you mess up.
