iPhone 3G upgraded to 2.2, and Universal Sim is working GREAT!
I upgraded my iPhone 3G to 2.2 custom firmware yesterday. And my Universal-Sim version 5.4 still working good on 2.2!
Here is what I did:
1) Plugged iPhone to my Vista computer to back up all information
2) Created a custom firmware using my Macbook (I had to change the partition size to 800MB to be successful making a custom firmware, or else it just kept failing on me)
3) My iPhone 3G was Pwned before (so I dont need to pwn again)
4) Brought the custom 2.2 firmware to the Vista computer.
5) Plugged in iphone, and opened itune, and shift+clicked Restore (Note: I DID NOT put the phone into recovery mode or DFU mode. I just plugged it in and Shift Clicked Restore)
6) As soon as it was done, my Universal Sim picked up signal right away. I DID NOT have to restore back up to get signal, But some people had to on Hackint0sh forum...
7) Restore back up with all the apps and setting, and music.
8) Restore Cydia back up
9) DONE.
* My Baseband/Modem Firmware is still at 02.11.07
** I left my T-Mobile and Universal Sim inside the phone the whole time. I was too lazy to take it out
If you want to upgrade your iPhone 3G to 2.2, and use Universal Sim, you better use a Custom 2.2 Firmware
Good Luck

Even with the 1st gen iPhone software unlocked, you CANNOT just update the phone in itune and expected to be unlocked right away. Then why on earth would anyone take a 3g iphone and update it in itune if they expect to unlock the phone via software or sim card?...

I sympathise for all the victims of Any-network as I am one. They are a bunch of scammers avoid them like plague unless you wish to loose your money. After 14 days the v3 arrived but it did not work I tried all the various manoeuvres but nothing worked. Tried to contact support on several occasions but did not get through only got voice mails. Sent several email did not get a single reply. They are cheats and scammers. I tried to make a claim with paypal and had the standard reply that they are unable to make claims for “quality of the goods”. They only act if the goods are not delivered. Dont pay using paypal you are better protected if you have paid using credit card. Call the credit card company and reverse the charges. If you are in UK under the distance selling act you are entitled to a full refund if the product is defective. We all need to file complaint with the trading standards office and teach these scammers a lesson. They have closed the blog and now taken out the contact telephone number from their website. Please spread the word around and post any other websites or forum details where we can put our comments. I have ordered a rebel sim and I will keep you posted on this.
