Locked My Iphone 2G. Any advice?

Hey guys, ok here is the situation, last night I decided to upgrade my current 1.1.4 frimware to 2.2. But instead of just doing the update I decided to do a restore first which wiped out everything and went back into the emergency only mode. Two things, I dont have the AT&T sim card that the phone came with, nor do I know of a method to get this phone up and running. I need help getting this phone back up and running. One thing I will need help with is finding out what version it resorted to when I did a restore, and Im aware of the process of finding that out which is *3001#12345#*, then send. That method is not working it goes nowhere and does nothing? I would truely appreciate all the input and advice as I just LOCKED this phone, and btw I live in Canada there is no AT&T here. Thanks everyone.
