    Default upgraded to 1.1.4. when i take pictures, it wont let me view them. why?

    hey everyone. i was on 1.1.3 unlocked, jailbroken and everything. when the ziphone hack came out i tried upgrading the firmware via itunes and it didnt work. it gave me that typical error. so i was stuck in recovery mod. i did do an restore to 1.1.4. then i used ziphone to unlock it and all that jazz. then i tried to use the mail app and it just kicked me right out. it opened but nothing loaded then it kicked me out to the homescreen. so i reinstalled it about 2 more times. now the mail app works great but my camera app doesnt. after i take a pictures i go to the folder where my camera roll is in there. well now it shows a square outline but nothing is in there. like imagine a picture with a grey outline around it. not remove the actual picture and ur left with a grey outline with only white in side. when i try to tap on it, it just opens a black screen. whats the deal? im on the newest bootloader. did i screw up the installation? please help me. thanks!

    This is not an issue with jailbroken phones. My daughter's iPhone does the same thing. We tried to restore the firmware and that didn't fix it so we took it to apple and they replaced her phone. Funny this is..... after she restored all of her info back to the phone she is getting the outline around the photos again. She is so frustrated!

    Had the same problem; it was solved to register/set-up the phone in iTunes as a NEW phone and not choose the option of using a backup. It also solved the problem that Notes could not be added or deleted.
    Hope this helps, it worked for me.

    SSH into your iPhone
    Navigate to private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM
    Change permissins to 0777

    You do not have to reboot!!! Should be ok now

    @olympios, thank you!

    In my experience, hold off on following the advice from anyone who advises a drastic fix for such a bug (i.e. downgrading baseband, re-registering iPhone as new, re-jailbreaking iPhone, and especially, never follow the advice of ANYONE who says the solution is going to Apple for help!!!).

    Most of these bugs have a simple noninvasive fix. So, just search the web for a simple solution (or wait a day or two until there is one).

    FYI, for those not already aware, the Notes save and Email crashing bugs have similarly quick and simple fixes.
