Is there a 2.2 baseband downgrade
Ok, I think I screwed myself. I upgraded to firmware 2.2 and my Gevey 3G Unlock SIM has stopped working. I now have "No Service".
I had no idea that the new baseband sops all unlocks from working. I've read alot of "google" articles related to the subject, and I have not found any that actually worked to downgrade the baseband.
If you know of any, I'm willing to try it. Please let me know and thanks in advance

until a 3G unlock is found/released you are indeed screwed, there is no prospect of any early release especially since nearly every site carried the original warning from the dev team that updating to 2.2 would reduce the chance of a proper software unlock. Your best chance now is to hope someone gets a new SIM unlock out and you will have to purchase that for $$$$$$$

sell your phone and get a 3g with 2.1 firm, then leave it alone.

rx7turbo287.. I have a backup 3G 8GB (the one I updated was a 3G 16GB)that I'm using now. I think I just got over excited when the update came on my computer. I didn't do any research about the upgrade...I just thought it would have turn by turn GPS...Live and learn.

No, it won't run on that baseband and it won't be able to downgrade it either.

Say What ??
Please confirm that last statement !!!
how did you do that ?
I (like many others) have a bricked turbosim iphone now because of the BB problem.
how did you manage to upgrade and still get it to work with your Tsim ?

You're stuck with an ipod touch instead of an iPhone now.
Sorry.

first i was 2.1 then i went for it and went 2.2 then using the last quickpwn tryed to jailbarke 2.2 but it didnt work so i did restore back to 2.1 but got error but after i rebooted phone it workt with 2.1. then when the new qp came out i did update using itunes to 2.2 then used the new qp.the phone works perfect.
o and when i first got 3g phone my orange sim wouldnt work with turbo sim so i had to change to 12call.gprs works and swirly mms works
maybe you should try a differant sim card aslo put your sim in another phone with the turbo sim i used a old nokia then put your sim back in your phoneLast edited by i pimping; 11-28-2008 at 03:06 AM.

Yeah your screwed for now. But I think down the road you will be ok. Look everyone said the same thing about using ZiPhone to unlock an iPhone how everyone was gonna be screwed because of the baseband locked etc, but then look a fix came out for that too so it's all pretty much hearsay at this point. Like you said live and learn. Just gotta remember to do your research on these things. Hell it was on the front page of this forum the day that the new quickpwn and pwnage was released and it had all the info that one would need to know all the important info. Not like ya had to look too far

Conclusion
So ... just to make a small summary :
1) If you have a SIMFREE (factory unlocked) 3g iPhone - you're FINE ! upgrade and jailbrake
2) If you have a locked 3g iPhone that uses some kind of turbo-sim to work, than :
A) Wait for the 2.1 unlock from the dev-team. DO NOT UPGRADE to 2.2
B) If you feel that you have to upgrade than cook a custom restore file without the baseband upgrade.
C) If you have already upgraded by mistake (like me) and have a bricked iPhone there are only two choices - BUY A 2.2 TURBO SIM(will be out in a week) or WAIT FOR THE DEV-TEAM to develop something ...
by the way, is there a expected time for some kind of solution to downgrading 2.2 to 2.1 from dev-team ?

A shipmate of mine upgraded his 3G to 2.2 and realized his sim adapter didn't work anymore. He downgraded to 2.1 and then did something to his baseband to get Tmobile to work on it again. I will ask him exactly what he did and post it here when he reports for his shift.

i.pimping,
I was using a Gevey 3G, so I took that out and tried with a Turbo Sim (a real one from Bladox). First, what a complete pain in the a^s it was to get it there. When I tried to remove it, the Turbo Sim got stuck in the phone. I fished it out with a paper clip, but after all that effort, still did not work. Keeps coming up "no service". Guess I'll have to wait for the Dev team. Also, I tried that patch Ziphone by KIREM...that doesn't work either.

Looked at the Any Sim site..looks like a rip off to me, but to satisfy my curiousity I purchased one. I'll keep everyone updated and let you know if it works. Says it comes with a money back policy. Should arrive in 3-4 business days.
