unlocking 3g
Ok, I keep seeing all this info and I need you guys help, I've got an iphone 3g with firmware 2.1 installed. I am not a att customer and I want to unlock and jailbreak it for T-mobile. I see there are custom firmwares out that jailbreak it but are there anyones that unlock it. I see they have already jailbroken the 2.2 firmware but I need mines unlocked. Is there a way to downgrade to a lower firmware so I can software unlock it? I do not have a mac so I will be using windows to do it. HELP PLEASE because I'm tired of using this pos phone I'm using now. By the way, I have unlocked my 2g iphone before with no problems so I'm no noob. Thanks guys and girls this bud is for you.

NO WAY to unlock a 3G via software. Sim-adaptor only.

I'm quoting this from this website: "Our software is GUARANTEED to jailbreak your iPhone 3G and unlock iPhone 2G. It even works with the new apple iPhone 3G with version 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2, 2.1 and the new 2.2.1!"
They are charging $26 euros jsut for jailbreaking.
The only method to unlock a 3g is using a sim adapter. I'm using the Gevey 3G sim with my phone now. I've had it for 1 week no probs yet (knock on wood). My dad has been using the same thing in his iphone for over a month now.

But then scroll down to "How do I find out what firmware version my iPhone is?"
Every single one of them is a first-gen iPhone version, pre-2.0.

Just follow this guide, it's what I did and it's very easy. Just make sure you upgrade to 2.1 NOT 2.2.

Thanks, after hours of trying I found the problem, it was the firmware I downloaded! I downloaded from another site and it worked fine.
