No SIM error --- 1G 2.1 - Cannot make calls
Hi- I am new here and this is my first apple anything. I bought an iphone 1G from ebay the other day and it was only slide for emergency. I dl itunes 8 and restored and updated to the latest firmware which was 2.1. I then followed the instructions from quickpwn 2.1 to jailbreak/activate the iphone, which was a success, i can access my iphone use the wifi see the installer and cydia!!! Only problem now is that I have a No SIM on the top left of the phone and cannot make any calls. I am pretty sure I have the new ATT 3g sim from my blackberry, when inserted still No SIM. I installed bootneuter 2.1 set to 4.6, neuter, unlock, but still No SIM. (In the process of rebooting the No SIM turned to ---- but then back to No SIM with no phone.) I have connected the iphone to itunes 8 after the jailbreak to try and put some music on it, if that makes any difference.
I did some searching in the forum and saw a lot of No SIM but no real solution and they were pretty old posts. I saw some stuff about downgrading to 1.1.4 and then unlocking with iLiberty but wanted to see if anyone currently has or had this issue and what their fix was.
ps. Just to clear it up i never had an actualy iphone specific ATT sim, just the current ATT sim I am using in my blackberry now and I am pretty sure I installed the SIM correctly.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance for your time and help!

^Alright, nice. And I don't know about if it worked on the phone; it wasn't mine and I don't believe the person tried it...

You should restart the sim unlock card as mentioned above. It will work just fine. I don't need to do it with my unlock card Unlock iPhone 3G - Instant Unlock any iPhone. Incl 2.2.1 though. It seems like not all sim cards are working fine for some reason. If your sim card is not working as it should you should ask for an replacement card.
