Problems putting music on unlocked iPhone 3G

Ok...I'm pretty much stumped. I switched over to T-Mobile and unlocked my 3G iphone with a Gevey SIM unlocked adapter.

Everything is going good on the phone. I purchased a Google phone 3G data plan (doesn't work on the 3G iphone, so I cancelled it for those who wanted to know). Now, when I go to iTunes, it will see the phone, but I get a message that the SIM card I'm using is not compatible with my service provider.

Does anyone know if I have to downgrade Itunes in order for me to transfer music to it?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I didn't want to try it unless I knew.

Thanks.

Its because the phone was never "activated" in Itunes. Which is needed the first go round. If you can get ahold of an activated ATT simcard to throw in there after Itunes recognizes the phone the first time....it should work afterwards.

At least it works on a 2g phone.

If your 3G iPhone is not jailbroken yet, when you do jailbreak, insert your T-Mobile simcard so that when you connect to iTunes, it won't tell you that you have invalid simcard.

If you don't want your phone jailbroken, you can slightly pop up the simcard tray (not all the way out but just enough for your phone to tell you that you do not have a simcard inserted). Then, connect your phone to iTunes, it will still recognize your phone and you can sync whatever you want and then just close the simcard tray when you're done.
