Default No Original SIM & Never Activated

    Hey everyone

I purchased an iPhone 2G on eBay and the seller says it has never been activated. It did not come with the original sim (AT&T).

I have run QuickPwn, jailbroke and unlocked and it says that it worked succesfsully. However, I'm getting a 'No Service' message from my Orange. I have tried this several times now.

How can I activate if it has never been activated before and I don't have the origianl sim?

I am in the same boat. 1st gen iphone, not activated, with no AT&T sim. I tried ziphone to no avail. Can't find tutorials that don't require AT&T sim. Some help would be extremely appreciated.

Not even sure what firmware I have. Might be 2.1.

The only thing I can think of would be to downgrade to 1.1.4 and activate in iLiberty, then re-upgrade and it should be fine.

I don't believe Pwnage nor Quickpwn has the activate option anymore, so I'm not sure what else you could do. Sorry... Wish I could be of more assistance.

How would I go about downgrading it to 1.1.4?

Activation refers to activation the PHONE, not the service. If the phone is not activated then you would see the "slide for emergency" lock screen. From what I can tell your phone is activated but says "No Service" in the top right hand corner. Try a friend's SIM card and see if it's the phone or the SIM that's giving you issues.

Thanks. Tried other sims and QuickPwn again, just getting the 'slide for emergency'. Anyone else got any ideas that might work please?

Downgrade it, boss. I believe that would be your only option.

Search the forums, there's guides somewhere.

I used QuickPwn and everything is working now. Before QuickPwn I had the slide for emergency screen, now it is activated, jailbroken and unlocked. I ran QuickPwn with the sim removed. No need to downgrade. In fact I upgraded to 2.1 before it.
