First REAL(?) iPhone 3G Unlock available

Three days ago a spanisch blogger has posted some informations about the FIRST real software-unlock of a iphone 3g.

He also posted a link to a special firmware with instructions included.

so i read the spanish blog and he saying that he tried to contact the dev team about "Gabos Free3G"

now im downloading it to see....

apparently this is a mac only software

Ya está listo el paquete de Liberación para Software 2.1 en modelos de iPhone 2G/3G (Hay problemas para la liberación total del 3G con perdida de señal y algunas fallas generales, no funciona al 100% pero si se libera) Publico este paquete con la intención de ayudar a Jailbrekear los iPhone 2G/3G de la manera mas fácil posible ya que no hace falta ninguna herramienta que no sea el iTunes y el Firmware aquí proporcionado, además de esto en el manual con unos sencillos pasos el iPhone quedará listo para instalarle aplicaciones de terceros usando la App Store y el iTunes originales o Hackeadas.

Funny thing is that i just read the whole manual and he only uses a pc to install the firmware via itunes and to ssh...nothing else is really states a mac is needed...none the less , i will see what happens when i fully open the files

ok the files have a iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Custom_Restore.ipsw

if im not mistaken , thats a first gen iphone firmware...i dont get it...

i emailed the creator of these files and he replied to me saying


Hola amigo, el Firmware sirve tanto para 2G como para 3G. Lo probé
en un equipo 3G y funcionó perfectamente. Estoy trabajando en unas
actualizaciones y arreglos pero se me hace muy dificil sin ayuda
profesional. Debo decirle que si, todos los pasos que uso en Mac los
puede usar en Windows ya que solo uso iTunes y un gestor SSH.


basically he says it works with both and he tested....well....eff it ima give it a shot...

I strongly advise you not try to install 2G firmware on a 3G iPhone.

That the blogger insists they're interchangeable speaks volumes.

P.S. the blogger states elsewhere on his blog that he doesn't yet have a 3G iPhone.

WOW THIS IS CONFIRMED NOT WORKING!!!

sorry guys, but it aint happening...itunes wont let u install first gen firmware on 3G (although i already new this) i was just bored at home and his other files kinda convinced me....poop!

So, lets say it does work....you would still loose GPS functionality AND 3G data coverage....

So, we're back to unlocking a 2g iphone...essentially.

the creator of the pack said that he confirms it working but its still in early stages. he also says that he tried contacting the iphone dev team and is currently trying to contact zibri in getting his packege 100% working

Si amigo lo se, ya me han comentado varios lectores eso y yo hice
pruebas y es verdad, hay varios iTunes en los que tira error...
Publique un comntario en mi blog en donde cuento lo que me paso... Fui
a la casa de mi novia y no me funciono, en mi Windows tampoco me
funciono pero en mi Mac si... Otro usuario dejo un comentario diciendo
que si le funciono pero que tuvo que hacer unas modificaciones en el
Firm. Tengo que hacer unas revisiones a ver que pasa pero es que ya no
se muy bien que hacer porque necesito ayuda, yo no se mucho de
programación en UNIX y mis amigos ya me ayudaron lo mas que pudieron,
ya no sabemos como mas pulir el Pack y necesitamos ayuda profesional
lo antes posible ya que la comunidad en vez de comprender y ayudar
critica.

sounds to me like he has something strong but needs help....anyone here wanna help out?
he says he is not in it for fame, just wants everyone to enjoy unlocked 3G's

no tampoco pude buscar tal codigos, creo k hay k ver adentro el .js

pero yo esperare, gabo me envio vie correro electronico k el va hacer un update con un firmware custome para el 3G pronto!

UPDATE:
creator has emailed me stating that he will update his packege with correct custome firmares! and is currently awaiting response from zibri as well to better his unlock method

I myself don't know what he did or not, but that's beside the point, from what I read he seeks contact, if u from the devteam, will u contact him for the greater good?

I rly hope there's not some stupid rivalry going to get into the way of this long awaited unlock..
