Swapping SIM's

I'm currently using a hacked/unlocked iphone (Quickpwn) & have been doing for the last 6 months.

At present I'm on a monthly contract with T-Mobile but looking to change to another network as I'm getting a work phone.

I've tried inserting an Asda SIM but get a 'No Service' indication from my phone (the Asda service runs on the Vodafone network so has 99% UK coverage).

I wondered if it was a dodgy SIM so tried a number of others (O2, Orange & Vodafone) but got the same problem.

I then wondered if it was anything to do with me leaving the T-Mobile SIM in when I hacked the iphone so tried a couple of other T-Mobile SIMs & hey presto they worked!

I tried inserting a non-T-Mobile SIM to see if that had cured it but noooooooo

This drove me to do a complete restore & re-jailbreak but its still the same!!!!

I'm currently on firmware 2.1

Any advice anyone before I pull out whatever hair I have left!!!

Grrrrrrrrrr

This is doing my head in!!!!! Why can't I get a non-T-Mobile UK SIM to work in my 2g iPhone??!
  • Downgraded from 2.1 to 2.02 - T-Mobile UK works - no other SIM works
  • Downgraded from 2.02 to 2.0 - again T-Mobile UK works - no other SIM works
  • Uninstalled iTunes 8 & reinstalled iTune 7.5 and downgraded to 1.1.4 & ran Ziphone - again T-Mobile UK works - no other SIM works
  • Restored to 1.1.4 factory settings & ran winpwn 1 - again T-Mobile UK works - no other SIM works
  • Ran Kiphone & downgraded baseband - again T-Mobile UK works - no other SIM works
  • Upgraded everything to current status (iTunes 8, firmware 2.1) & ran Quickpwn 2.1-1 - guess what? T-Mobile UK works - no other SIM works!!!!! Arghhhhhhhhh

***For all of the above I've run the unlock/jailbreak 3 times - with no SIM, with non-T-Mobile UK SIM & with T-Mobile UK SIM & every time only T-Mobile UK SIM's have worked***

I've even tried it with a different T-Mobile UK SIM (my wifes) & hey presto, it recognised that SIM!!! It appears that my iPhone is addicted to T-Mobile UK!!!!

I'm beginning to think that the T-Mobile UK fairies/gremlins are living in my phone

Has anyone else encountered anything like this?
