I got an IPhone 3G 16GB, running with AT&T and the data plan. I took the data plan off my account and phone is now deactivated. I don't want to jailbreak it so I got the Gevey 3G sim adapter to unlock it. Unluckily, phone recieved no reception. All I did was to place the sim adapter under the AT&T sim and insert them altogether into the slot. I don't know what I did wrong. Anyone knows why?
i did the same think. My phone has Rogers signal but I cannot make any phone call. I have my phone deactivated once, what I did is open itunes, then it will ask me to update to version 2.2 then my phone is reactivated .
If your on firmware 2.2, Gevey 3G will not unlock the phone since the baseband has been upgraded. You now have to have a 3G data plan to unlock and activate the phone. If you were still on firmware 2.1, the phone would unlock with the SIM adapter and no 3G data plan, but ATT can detect that you are using a 3G iphonel and will either add the 3G plan automatically or you will recieve a huge data bill.
