    Default 2G iPhone Help .....

Hi, what happened is that my brother found a 2g iPhone and he wanted me to upgrade it and unlock it for him, so i had a 2g Custom firmware on my harddrive that i used in the past that i made with pwnage tool, and i usually just option click and select the firmware. So i have iTunes 8.0 and i tried that. i put the phone into DFU mode and did that and i kept getting errors 1601, 1600 etc ... so i uninstalled my iTunes 8.0 and installed 7.7 ... and again im getting errors, can someone point me in the right direction here and tell me exactly what i should be doing .. i just want the phone working with my custom firmware 2.0 or instructions on how to just put on 2.1. ive tried everything. Thanks .

you should return the "found" iPhone to the owner... anything less is stealing!

Here's the deal with pwnage and iTunes 8. Before you pwn a different phone you must go into /user(your username)/Library/iTunes/Device Support and delete the recovery file in there. Then you have to use pwnage to create a NEW custom firmware. THEN DFU restore and you won't get error 1600 anymore. Took me forever to figure out you have to delete that file and build a new firmware EVERY time you pwn a phone.

Thanks for reporting the post, but finding a phone that someone was stupid enough to lose doesn't break any forum rules

Thanks for the reply, so ya i went to the folder and deleted that file, than opened up pwnage tool and made a new firmware, as it finished making the firmware i noticed that another recovery file showed up in that folder you told me to delete the file out of. so i left that file alone and went ahead and put the phone in DFU and than hit option restore choose new firmware file i made .... same thing error 1600.

Your custom firmware is 2.1 right? Try restoring to your custom fw in restore mode not DFU.

    Do this:

Take QUICKPWN and start the process...when it gets to the point of placing the phone into DFU mode and then ACTUALLY STARTS the jailbreak....the screen on the iphone will turn completely WHITE.....

When it turns WHITE, IMMEDIATELY kill/close quickpwn.

This will leave the screen on iphone white.

Now, go to itunes and restore using your custom firmware....will work no errors.

PS- Only way I have found around Itunes 8 giving errors. Have done this without error probably 15 times. Without, always had errors.
