at this point i've almost given up but it's pointless to have this phone and not be able to use it. i have this iphone and it's restored to this (iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw) version. i have no idea what any of this means. i just want to unlock my phone so i can just throw my sim in there, bypassing the whole activation situation. i'm having the most ridiculous time trying to do this. i've tried everything. i've watched all the movies on iclarified and followed all the instructions but i can't seem to get this right. can someone please walk me through this.
sounds like you have the first generation iphone...if you have the 3G phone..the firmware that you just restored, will not work. And if you have the first generation phone..youre on the right track.
There are three things that you have to download to your macbook.
They are quickpwn 1.1, bl39.bin, bl46.bin, all these three files you can download here QuickPwn 1.1 & PwnageTool 2.1 For Mac OSX Released | iPhone-Hacks.com
after you have done downloading...run quickpwn..and just follow the instructions on screen...it is very easy....takes about 10mins or so for the whole process.
i'm going to make sure to ask for help more often when i have no idea what the hell i'm doing because that worked like a charm. tip for all n00bs: DO NOT WING IT!
Youre welcome.
BTW, the SEARCH button here works like a charm also....just be patient..you will find the answers to your questions by using the search button.
okay, i thought i made it to the end, but i'm having trouble with the service. i have an att sim but i'm not getting any bars. i can't make or receive calls. what's the deal with that? i tried resetting networks and apparently there's a "trick" where you turn on and off "airplane mode" and that may work but it didn't. any ideas? i tried searching for the answer but i've come up short
edit: okay, i did another restore with pwnage and everything seems to work fine now. it did something with boatloader and bootneuter or something like that, i'm not sure but it worked. custom firmware i'm guessing did the trick.
