iPhone will not restore after unlock went wrong
Hi All,
I have had my iPhone a good few months now and love it. I originally used ziphone to unlock on 1.14 and its been fine.
Yesturday I decided to to upgrade to 2.1, unlock and activate with iphoneunlockuk (quickpwn)
The activation went fine and I was able to use the iphone without having to activate it with itunes. I then started to unlock stage. I installed bootneauter, started to flash the BL in order to unlock the phone and then while it was starting to flash I accidentially pressed the home button... interrupting the process. I didn't think anything of it at the time, I tried to flash it again but it came back with errors. So i decided to reboot the iphone... then it froze... It was stuck on the iphoneunlock icon that replaces the apple icon and didn't go any further. Eventually I managed to get it into DFU mode and tried to restore but itunes failed with errors 6 and 1011.
So I am now left with an iphone in restore mode that I cant restore. I have tried restoring it back to 1.14, creating my own ipsw files, I have tried a different machine, I ahve tried other USB ports, I have tried uninstalling and deleting the mobile device files.
I am stuck and would really like my iphone back
Please help?

2 weeks ago got a lot of errors like (1601,1602, 1603,1604) , would give me a message that Iphone could not be restored and Iphone would go to restore mode. I was crazy because could not restore and unlock my Iphone. Then i did this and succeeded. I instaled Itunes 8.0 , restored my Iphone with custom firmware 2.02 then unninstalled Itunes 8.0 and installed Itunes 7.7 and finaly activated and unlocked with WinPWN 2.5. Try it , maybe can fix your Iphone.

Is winPWN the same as QuickPWN? or Pwanage tool? I will give 2.02 a try with the latest version of itunes
I have tried alot of things I have read on this forum also, custom IPSW's, all versions of FW with all versions of itunes, recovery mode and DFU mode... I am failing miserably!
UPDATE: I got error 1011 when restoring with 2.02 in itunes 8.01Last edited by joemorgan36; 10-17-2008 at 07:33 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

try this.
DFU mode, and restore to factory fw 2.1.
Not sure if you know how to put the phone in DFU mode...there is a different between DFU mode and Recovery mode. Be sure to put the phone in DFU mode.
Phone on. Press both home and power til the screen goes black and blank...let go of the power button, continue pressing down on the home button til itunes recognizes the phone. Now youre in DFU mode..even though itunes will say that youre in recovery mode..that's ok...now press shift/option and restore..go choose the factory fw and restore.
Once done...quickpwn it again.
Keep us posted. Good Luck.

Hi SD,
I put the phone in DFU, itunes picked it up (latest version of itunes) and then shift clicked and chose the FW 2.1 - it got to 'Restoring iPhone Firmware' sat there for about 4 mins and then gave me the error code of 1011

I got error 1011, I then opened iLiberty and managed to kick it out of recovery.
I opened up iTunes but got an error messages saying iTunes can read the data from the iPhone? I also got a message on the iPhone saying iPhone cannot make or receive calls
So I opened iLiberty back up and clicked "Free my Iphone 8GB" with all options clicked (I decided to clicked unlock with 3.9FB as I messed this up last time I wanted to see if that would get the baseband back on my phone)
Well... its been about 20 mins and its sat on "Downgrading BL from 4.6 to 3.9FB" and iLiberty is saying "Running Phase 2 - Please be patient"
I have to run out for the office for a few hours, Ill leave it running and will update you on my return.
*EDIT* I came back to find that it was still running phase 2 - so i reset the iphone and forced quit iLiberty. Now I had an activated iPhone that had the error message - iPhone cannot make or receive calls. So i update itunes and try to restore to the latest FW, I get another error and I am back to square one
I go back to a 1.14 Jailbroken and Activated iPhone - If I try to unlock it, the iLiberty screen stays in Extracting package and does nothing. I dont have WIFI EDGE or Bluetooth so I use iLiberty to do a reflash. I get to the iLiberty black screen and it gets stuck on Trying fix for bootloader 3.9 - Is my bootloader corrupt? I restart the iPhone and start again
Im back to having a 1.14 iPhone again, jailbroken and activated giving me an iphone without wifi, bluetooth, edge etc and unable to make or receive calls. I then put the phone into my other mac and restored it to a custom 2.1 FW from pwangetool which worked!! but then when it was rebooting is just froze on the pineapple logo. I tried restoring on the standard 2.1 FW and got error 1011 so I am really confused and I dont know what to doLast edited by joemorgan36; 10-20-2008 at 09:56 AM.

have you tried this:
1: DFU mode
2: when iTunes detects iPhone Just press restore to install factory settings and 2.1 firmware
3: Run QuickPwn
4: After it finishes if you dont want to run BootNeuter yourself then at this point you can install a custom firmware which will do it for you(DO NOT put the phone in DFU mode when your doing this)
Thats how I had to do it one time.iRealSMS - your REAL native landscape SMS app on the iPhone

To me it seems that all the problems occur when it comes to bootneuter or flashing the baseband as thats what went wrong the first time I went to upgrade to 2.1
From a bit of reading i understand that virginizing the phone will put it back to the way it was out of the box? But no where can I find any tutorials on how I go about doing this. I understand that its done on the phone with the baseband but if I have no wifi on the phone and my baseband is corrput, will i be able to do this?Last edited by joemorgan36; 10-23-2008 at 03:29 AM. If you need to get files on the iPhone without wifi available to you, try and see if Disc Aid can access your phone via USB.
If that's not what you meant, please ignore my ramblings. Good Luck.
