Question Should I do it? Need advice

Hi there.. I am a current owner of a 2g iphone running firmware version 1.1.4. However I would like to upgrade it to version 2.2.. Should I do it? Can I then unlock it and jailbreak it? Can I use the apps I have on my current version on version 2.2 or would I have to start over? Can version 2.2 have themes or not? Anyway what I most want to know is it worth it?

    Thanks to those who respond!

Restore to version 2.1 (do NOT use the upgrade function)
    Themes - Winterboard
    Unlock - YES (Quickpwn)
Apps - you will have to redownload all of them.
