(ROGERS) unlocking help
Ok so I am on Rogers in Canada, with a voice and texting plan, but no data plan. I am planning on getting a 2g 1st generation iphone off of ebay, and want to unlock and jailbreak it. i will be using the tutorial found here: iPhone Forums - iPhone-Hacks.com / WinPwn 2.5 Guide Unlock and Jailbreak iPhone 2.0.2 on Windows (which for some reason has more steps then the tutorial found in the wiki pages here at Apple Forums & News | ModMyi.com | iPhone, iPod, Mac, OS X, More)
so my questions are:
1. why would i want to delete bootneuter or keep it as is the option in step 6?
2. in step 11 it asks if you want to resize the root partition. why would i want to do this?
3. step 14, related to 11, what difference does the size of the root partition make?
thanks in advance for any help

I know with TMO I was able to request all data transfer to be blocked on my sim. Perhaps this is something you can request too?

1. only if you want to keep changing your baseband you should keep it (theres no need thou i i recomend you delete it)
2: if you want to have more jailbreak apps but this is un recomended because some phones have know to stuff up doing this
3 it lets you have more jailbreak apps

Make sure you ask for a data plan or turn off edge using Boss Pref's toggle on/off of edge. If you don't you may end up receiving a very expensive bill for data usage hence your 2nd gen iphone will cost an arm and a leg.

just call Rogers and tell them that you do NOT want any data sending and recieving from your SIM card, hence ask for a data block. they will do it for you, but dont tell them your using a unlocked iphone or they might not do it. just say your using one of their branded phones ie. moto or sony ericsson etc.....

i've been suggested this before. my only issue with it is that, say i get lost in the middle of no where with no wifi around, and want to use the gps maps or go on googlemaps it wont let me because i've blocked data right
