Help with 2G iPhone v2.1 unlock and activation

I just used QuickPwn to jailbreak an AT&T 2g iPhone I bought from a co-worker. I have upgraded the device to the 2.1 firmware, and have wiped it. I'm experiencing two issues:

1. I'm not sure how to Activate the phone. The "Waiting for activation" dialog has been up for almost an hour now. I have a different AT&T SIM which I could use, but I'm leery of screwing this up as it is from my wife's phone.

2. I need to use my phone with my SIM, which is from TeleTango in Luxembourg.

Suggestions?

Yeah, exact same thing with me. Trying to help a friend of mine.. I have been through this problem before but do not remember what I did to fix it.
