my girlfriend is russian. point me to a russian warez site or a ruski version of google just point me somewhere and ill have her search it out and bring it home to the states. something like this couldnt have been 100% kept under wraps. i'm sure its in russia's blogosphere somewhere. maybe sarah palin can help look too!!

I'm sorry. I really want to believe you but I also have to be realistic and think you might be lying. What's a video really going to prove? How do we know your iPhone isn't an officially unlocked iphone like the ones I've seen on eBay or the ones they sell in Italy and all the other regions that allow unlocked iPhone? Either way you could still be lying. Why not give us the name and contact info of the shop in Moscow? I'm sure someone from Russia can verify this.

I know you have nothing to gain. But some people like to just stir up the masses and mess with people heads for fun. I hope what your saying is true, I really want to start using my 3G iPhone on US Tmobile.. but being that your the only person that has reported this is kind of fishy. I checked out many iPhones sites and nothing to report. You would think the dev team would have a little bit of info or something to post about this... forgive me for being a little skeptical. I just hate getting my hopes up for nothing. Thanks for the info though.

first post for me, so apologies if this is not the way to do it - but I recently was in Hong Kong, I bought an unlocked 16Gb, 3G iphone - it is a US model, I am in the UK and it works with any simcard for calling and texting. Problem is I cannot activate it through itunes so cannot transfer any music or pics to it. I also am not able to connect to the internet apart from through wifi - can anyone help please?????

Well unfortunately people in Hong Kong have been known to be opening up
what were originally locked iPhone 3G's in order to hardwire an xsim/turbosim
adaptor inside, close it back up before selling it as factory unlocked.
I'm afraid this is what has happened to you and this is confirmed
by the fact that you have a US model. There is as yet simply no way a
US model can be unlocked without a turbosim.

The reason you aren't able to connect to the internet apart from with wifi
is because these xsim adaptors are extremely unreliable in that sometimes
if your lucky you can get 3G, sometimes EDGE, sometimes GPRS and
sometimes no data connection at all. Its actually quite a blessing that you
are able to make/receive calls and texts so thats something at least...

The reason you can't activate through itunes is because you don't have an
auhorised sim-card in your phone and as far as itunes is concerned, your
phone is still locked to AT&T. If you want to activate your phone you're
going to have to jailbreak your phone using pwnage/winpwn/quickpwn
which will also activate your iPhone for you.

Hope this has been some help to you, and I'm sorry if you bought this
iPhone thinking it was legally officially factory unlocked and it is very
unfortunate that people are taking advantage of people such as yourself....

I contacted the guy and he´s croatian, russian or something...
he says that it works (obviously) otherwise he gives refund.

i came home, i saw, and it conquered!!!
good stuff MPS3! now....im wondering again was it a special .ipsw ? activation done by itunes...what? cuz if its an activation by itunes, cant we just download there version of itunes? or even just something? trick itunes into activating it?
cuz im in NY and i have the 3G under att prepaid, but i kinda like tmobile prepaid plans better, (although i know the 3G dont work)
