You can unlock iPhone 3G by simcard adapter but beware it can get stuck in your iPhone's card tray and it is not 100% fully operational at all times. You'll see some post here complaining about losing signal when using simcard adapter.
My simcard is T-Mobile. I'm currently using an iPhone 3G with Universal Sim adapter. I chose Universal Sim because it is programmable compared to others.iPhone 2G 8gb - version 1.1.4 unlocked/jailbreak (iLiberty+)
iPhone 3G 8gb - version 2.1 unlocked (Universal Sim V550) / jailbreak (QuickPwn)
iPhone 3G 8gb - version 3.0 unlocked (Ultrasn0w) / jailbreak (Redsn0w)

I have unlocked it since last Thursday, Sept 11. At first, I wasn't able to receive calls and SMS. I updated my Universal sim to the latest version and then everything is working now. I used QuickPwn to jailbreak my phone.
I bought my Universal sim with Pkey reader from an authorized reseller in China. I live in USA so the seller send them to me by Fedex. See the Universal sim website for more details... http://www.universal-sim.org/.
When they release the unlock software, of course, I will use that instead but I will wait for a few days to try it and check for feedback from other users first. I hope they will release the unlock software for iPhone 3G soon.
From what I've seen, I think the price of iPhone 3G on eBay is decreasing from $1000 to an average price of $450. I bought mine on eBay. The first iPhone 2G I had was stolen from me so that is why I bought an iPhone 3G as replacement. I will guard it now with my whole life :-p I hope the person who stole my iPhone will get bad luck for life!!!Last edited by luvmyfone; 09-13-2008 at 02:00 AM.
