iPhone unlocked/Jailbroken, but cant make or receive calls. Please help

I have a 1st gen iPhone that I bricked when I attempted to upgrade to the 2.0.X software. I was receiving the 16xx errors, after some hard work and internet searching I was able to get the phone fixed for the most part...

The phone will get to the main screen, and everything appears to be OK. When I insert a Sim card into the phone it recognizes the carrier, and shows the "bars" but whenever I try and make a call it doesn't go through. I can access the internet via WI-FI. but no phone calls...

Not sure what other info is needed, but any help would be a huge help.

Last night I did a complete reset of the phone, iTunes thinks its a brand new phone (if I put a ATT sim card in it it trys to activate it)

I'll try rejailbreaking/unlocking and see what I get ...
