How do I know what boot loader my phone has? Help please

I just got my iphone today from someone and she said its on 1.1.3 firmware which it is. I want to unlock my new iphone but i know I need to know if its an Out The Box and what type of boot loader it is. Can someone please help me?

I also read in the forums about jailbreaking but im not sure what thats about if i need to jail break before unlocking can someone clear this up for me on what i must do?

If it same with the 1.1.3 firmware
its a 4.6 bootloader
its and OTB 1.1.3, with 4.6 bootloader
you can unlock it with the method at MMi's Homepage

Jailbreak means, bypass activation screen,
and be able to use the phone normally plus,
it installs, Installer.app, which is needed if you
want to intall 3rd party apps.
You need to do jailbreak first and then unlock

thanks for the reply...are you saying im on a bootloader 4.6? is there a way I can check it on the iphone or itunes?
