Still very confused about 1.1.2

Hello all. Im reading all the guides for the iphone and I just need a iple answer for someone if you can spare your time.

I really really want a iphone and Im going to use it on the t-mobile network. From the guides I see on the site I still dont have a firm grasp on if I can use it on t-mobile. The wiki part says no if 1.1.2 came out of the box then it says yes for if I use a turbo sim... So is this old info? Can I jailbreak it and use anysim software to unlock activation if I buy 1.1.2 out of the box?

Or can I downgrade to 1.1.1 to use anysim still? I am trying to avoid the extra $100 plunge extra to unlock this damn thing because Im buying one for me and one for my wife... soooo. Can anyone please give me some concrete tips on what's going on? please take the time to clear this up for me. Thanks everyone.

Right, i will try to answer this the best i can.

If you buy a 1.1.2 OTB this means that you can jailbreak and activate the iphone to use with a o2 simcard. If you have also purchased a stealth sim, turbo sim, hyper card etc etc then you can use it on any network.

You cant physically unlock it by using software such as anysim as this will pretty much destroy your phone. This applies to what ever version you try to downgrade/upgrade it to.

If you have not yet bought you're iphone then chances are that it will be a OTB 1.1.3 in which case i cant explain to you the situation. All i know is your in a totally different ball court.

Maybe someone else can help you out on that?

its true that right now there is no software unlock for OTB1.1.2 or 1.1.3. if you get an OTB 1.1.2 you can jailbreak and activated and "unlock" it using a turbosim, stealth sim or i think the one sold on ebay thats is cheap is called next sim or something like that. if you go to a store you should still be able to find a OTB 1.1.2 bc 1.1.3 is still kinda new. might try going to an att store and ask the sale person to give you and older iphone with week45-50 just to be safe. just look at the 4th and 5th numbers on the serial numbers and thats the week number.

*edit* if i was you i would just wait a bit longer and see how the unlocking goes and see confirmation about if turbo/stealth/next sim works on OTB1.1.3 so that way you dont have a problem or maybe the Dev team comes up with an anysim for OTB1.1.2+. but the is no harm in going to a store and seeing if they have a week45-50 iphone and then u know ur good and if you decide to buy it then get one and if works out for u get another for ur wife.
