bebeboouk, can i just buy this usb pkey reader at a computer store? or is it a necessity for the universal sim to work properly??

I tried to look for the Pkey locally without success, no computer store carry it, even cellphone store around here in California.. You have to buy them from China, or those online that have them.. I think it has to be 8 pins. Normal Sim reader only have 6 pins, so it wont work, and dont waste your money! I already wasted $20 to get a sim reader and try to upgrade the Universal-sim. NO SUCCESS!

To be honest. I hadn't even heard of a PKEY reader until I read the Universal Sim website. It has to be ISO compatible, but that's all I know, but mine looks like this one http://www.gsm-technology.com/multic..._pro_small.jpg

You HAVE to programme it with the iphone 3g compatible firmware unless you get the company supplying you with the Universal Sim to preflash it. But if newer U-S firmware becomes available to iron out any problems, you are pretty much stuck. I highly recommend that you get one.
