Swapping 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 phones

just got a replacement iphone, 1.1.3 otb. thinking about trading a friend on att for his 1.1.2 (1.1.3 via itunes). can we just swap the sim from the already att activated 1.1.2 (1.1.3 via itunes) with the new 1.1.3 otb? any suggestions, lines of wisdom? thx.
