activation of iphone 3G Fido

Is it necessary to do activation of iPhone before pwn process? Somewhere in net I read that warranty will not be valid unless I activate it. Thanks.

no you dont need to activate to pwn a phone
there is a option to activate the phone when you are pwnin the phone
but it is also true that apple starts your 1yr warranty from the day the phone is activated
might look a little weird if you have a phone for 8months and its only been activated a week before your return the phone for service
