unlocking & activating an 8GB series 1
hello all
whatever i seem to do, i can't get the damn thing to unlock/activate.
i bought it from a colleague who just removed the O2 sim - i'm in the UK.
the iPhone is in the "No SIM card installed / emergency calls only" state
iTunes says that it can't use the iPhone as "the info required for activation could not be obtained etc etc"
iLiberty can see the phone, but shows an error message "error communicating with device, ensure in NORMAL mode and restart iLiberty"
Ziphone can see it, but seems to hang when "entering recovery mode" and itunes pops up with the "iphone in recovery mode detected" message.
i've used winpwn to get the iphone to 1.1.4, shift'restored, but can't any further with unlocking...
i just want to activate & unlock to use my Vodafone SIM, i'm sure that there's something simple i need to do.......
HELP!!
cheers

Are you putting the iphone in DFU or recovery mode BEFORE using these apps?
Get "iPod & iTunes for Dummies", it'll change your life.

I would just get an o2 sim card then you won't have to worry about unlocking or activating
