I have a 2.5 G iPhone (Firmware 2.0) that needs repair. However, I don't use at&t so I decided to get a GoPhone plan so I could give it to apple for warranty. I set up a GoPhone account but I don't remeber entering a IMEI number. Now iTunes says my account doesn't work with my iPhone and to get into my account I have to get a sms which can't happen with the locked phone. Any suggestions? Thank you

If you got the GoPhone account through iTunes then it automatically registered your IMEi number. This is what you should do:
Call ATT and tell them that you just updated the firmware and are having problems with the phone. They will walk you through alot of BS and finally transfer you to an Apple Care specialist. Apple specialist will then go through steps to attempt to repair the phone..after all exhausting all available options on their scripts, they will ask you if you wan to send the phone in or make a genius bar appointment..make the genius bar appointment. Apple Stores will swap the phone out. Take it from experience, I sent a broken phone into Apple and they sent it back unrepaired telling me that I voided the warranty by software unlocking it. I then restored it and took it to an Apple Store where they swapped it out.

It will take some time, but in the end you will get a new previous generation iphone. Hope this helps
