Next SIM 2 Problem
Got iPhone in NY late Dec 2007 (week 48)
has new OTB 1.1.2 with bootloader 4.6
Got GoPhone Pre Paid
worked fine in US
in Australia, got next sim 2 from Honkas.
Followed all instructions and jailbroke iPhone.
installed Next SIM 2 with Optus SIM.
iPhone asks to enter PIN which I do and it then comes up with message
"Different SIM detected"
and in iTunes
"No Carrier for the SIM in the iPhone".
Everyone else seems happy with Next SIM 2.
Anyone with the same problem?
Better still, anyone fixed it?
Do other SIM methods have sofware to fix this?
TIA

Does your SIM card have a password? Did you install iWorld? See instructions below:
Install iWorld
Try the phone function now, select the keypad, if you find that once you dial up, it jump back to the icon menu, don't worry, it just a matter of customerize only. Please follow the below step to install the iWorld.
In the Icon menu, find and click on Installer icon (Blue Icon remember), wait for a moment to let it start, then click "Install" (at bottom, 2nd option), scroll down to select "Tweaks (1.1.2)" category, select "iWorld" and install it. After it finished, press the MENU button, it will bring you back to slide to unlock, silde to unlock, then in the icon menu, find the "iWorld" icon that you just installed, click on it, and select the country where you located. That is! Your iPhone will reboot and when power on again, the dial up problem will be solved.

Thanks for your reply, very much appreciated.
[QUOTE=nophin;141935]Does your SIM card have a password? YES.
iPhone:
"PIN entry Succeeded"
then
"Different SIM detected
Please Connect to iTunes"
Did you install iWorld? YES
I had done that a few times with different variations
iTunes:
"There is NO Carrier that supports the installed SIM in the iPhone"
Anyone in Perth want to try on their iPhone?

easy. because you originally activated through iTunes with a GoPhone "contract", your "lockdown" file won't recognize a "different SIM" You just need to install the patched lockdown. email me and verify you are using 1.1.2 and I'll shoot you the lockdown you need. [email protected]

You're a GEM
Thanks so much
Finally Got it sorted out.
Here is what I did.
1) downloaded lockdownd file:
http://www.modmyi.com/forums/downloa...o=file&id=1466
I put it into a folder on desktop called iPhoneStuff.
2) using WinSCP, i replaced the lockdownd file in usr/libexec on the iPhone.
3) Rebooted iPhone and presto, Optus network found.

where is this exact location whithin the file system?
nevermind, found it.
but i rebooted, and now it's stuck @ the apple logo
** SOLVED **
For those who might run into this problem, this is how I did it:
I had to restore to 1.1.1 w/ original AT&T sim
Once I jailbroke 1.1.1 and installed oktoprep, i had to connect the phone to iTunes, do the SHIFT + Upgrade. Once the browser opened up, I installed my T-Mobile & *sim to the holder, then selected 1.1.2 and then jailbroke.
After the reboot it showed T-Mobile as my carrier.Last edited by MrEBean; 01-24-2008 at 01:44 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

no you need to use customiz
you need to use customize to fix this.
I have the same problem as icjames and reinstalling lockdown file would make sense as i bought the phone from womeone who had previously officially activates it. However i have tried it and the problem still persists
does anyone have any ideas?Last edited by alick; 01-26-2008 at 03:29 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I have the same issue. I have a week 49 iphone 1.1.2 that was down graded to 1.1.1 and then 1.1.2 jail broken. The NEXT sim will not work with everything mentioned. I will say I did upgrade at one time to 1.1.3 through the installer source. Should that give me an issue?

nextsim not working for me
This is probably my fault. Started with a 1.1.2 bl4.6. Upgrade through itunes to 1.1.3. Downgraded and jailbroke 1.1.1 softupgrade and jailbroke with nate method to 1.1.3. Inserted the nextsim today and got this error when trying to launch iworld: size mismatch: your appsupport framework is not supported. I tried to go from 1.1.3 to 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 the 1.1.3 jailbroken BUT I could never update to 1.1.2. kept getting 1602 error. They say to uninstall itunes and all that nonsense. Yeah, iworld is for jailbroken 1.1.2 but I hoped.
Anythoughts folks??

I finally did it. It works fine, no errors, no problem. I used this tutorial: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=598
