Did you backup your 1.1.4 before upgrading? If so you can restore and choose to restore from your old backup which had contacts stored in it, that is of course if you had an old iPhone not the 3G.
thats the thing i didnt know how to backup the contacts specifically, thats the issue,
i just conntected my phone to itunes, and copied my pics to desktop ... thats !!
To sync items from your iPhone onto your computer in iTunes:
- Connect iPhone and open iTunes
- Select your iPhone from devices
- Click the Info tab
- Select sync contacts and select application to sync your contacts too.
- Select Merge data when prompted.
- Sync iPhone.
To get contacts from old SIM card to iPhone 2.0:
- Once iPhone is activated, remove SIM card and replace with old SIM card (with contacts stored on it)
- On the iPhone, select settings->Mail, Contacts, calendars.
- There will be an option near the bottom to Import SIM contacts. Select and let the iPhone do it's thing.
- Once finished, replace SIM card with active SIM.
If you are on a Mac with a Bluetooth compatible Phone:
- Enable Bluetooth (System Preferences-> Bluetooth)
- Pair phone using iSync (/Applications/iSync.app)
- Sync phone to Address book (merge data is safest)
- Once synced to Address Book, sync iPhone contacts using iTunes
"- There will be an option near the bottom to Import SIM contacts. Select and let the iPhone do it's thing.
- Once finished, replace SIM card with active SIM."
I have the origniaL IPHONE unlocked witht he update4d software. I dont see this option. is this only for the Iphone 3g. thanks
if you saved all your contacts to your SIM w/ Simport, with firmware 2.0 (can't confirm for older firmwares), just go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calenders/ and select "Import SIM Contacts" near the bottom of the options.
There is no way to save contacts to your SIM at the moment in 2.0, but that should restore everything you want.
Just make sure to verify w/ Simport that every contact has been saved to your SIM.
