07-11-2008, 05:45 PM #1Question too long for title (upgrading a simlock-free iPhone)
my question was a bit long to put in the title so...
But the thing is, over here, the iPhone can not be sold to be used with 1 fixed provider.
So it has been made simlock-free (for the three local providers at least).
If you upgrade this iPhone (1st gen or 3g doesnt matter?) and it still works with these providers,
does that mean there is something in the software that enables these/all networks again?
Sooooo... if so, can people in countries where the iPhone does have a simlock,
choose to install firmware from "our iTunes" and as a result have an iPhone that works on any network?
And also, it is sold over at provider 1, but can users with provider 2/3 just go and install the 2.0 software
without having to wait for the unlock option (pwnage), seeing that it should always work with the three local providers?
This might have been a long question, but i thought it was an interesting brain-fart...
