Unactivating Iphone 3g

Ok theoretically speaking is it possible to upgrade to an Iphone 3g then deactivate it, the reactivate it with some hack/activation software? Im trying to get around paying for the 39.99 monthly fee and use it just as a phone with out 3g. I know there is no hactivaition yet. But does this sound possible? The reason I want to do this is because my line is upgradeable so i would only have to pay 199.

Sure you can do that easy. But how you gonna get the 2 year contract cancelled?

After I deactivated the iphone, then hactivated it could i use the iphone with my 2 year membership? If you put any sim card in a hactivated iphone would it work? Or would att realize that you are using an iphone?

I think you're confused. The phone will be activated when you buy it and you'll have a 2 year contract

1. You can get the phone contract free, pay as you go for $599 and $699.
2. You can stop paying that after the first time runs out.
3. When it comes out you can hack it.
4. Profit.

Ok so you have to pay the 39.99 a month for two years even if, lets say, your not using an iphone?
