But O2 is to short a word to search for. Anyway, I'm fairly sure that the iPhone locks itself the the particular sim, and not a network in general, but I'll ask anyway. Will an activated & jailbroken UK OTB 1.1.2 work with any O2 sim?

Don't quote me on this but I do believe you can unlock the iPhone to the O2 network. You have to do some research. I could have sworn I ran across it every time I am looking for an unlock for mine. Don't get your hopes up because I am probably wrong.

Unlocking the iPhone will allow it to work with any GSM network, including O2.

Not for an OOTB 1.1.2 it won't! It will only work on o2 sims (and Tesco sims!), and this is guaranteed fact!

I apologize but I used the wrong word. You can not unlock the 1.1.2 otb yet but I know you can make the 1.1.2 otb work on the o2 network. You more than likely can't use a US iphone because they are probably locked strictly to AT&T.
