Hi!
I'm from Sweden, but I'm going to the US this week. I got two questions for you =)

. Can I buy an iPhone WITHOUT the 2-year AT&T-plan ?
. If the 1.2 jailbreak never comes *brrr*, will I be able to upgrade the iPhone to the European/Swedish version when it comes out in Sweden?

question1: yes, just goto an apple store and you should have no problem.

question2: I would think this would not be a problem, but I am not sure. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along and correct me.

1. Possibly. With difficulty. Try find some trustworthy American to buy one for you
2. 1.1.2 can be jailbroken, just not unlocked. And, you won't be able to upgrade to the Swedish version

Where can I find this jailbreak then? Have been looking all day ^^
(I mean the 1.1.2-bought-in-shop-version)

And why won't I be able to upgrade it to swedish ?

2. I meant for now. Obviously if / when the unlock comes out, you will be able to 'upgrade' it to work on Swedish networks

Now I must find a place in Atlanta where I can buy the phone without AT&T services.

You buy the phone without service anyway. But you usually need an American credit card to buy one, so the process would be slightly easier if you knew someone in the US that could buy it on your behalf

My father got an American Express Gold Card, think that would work?
