12-04-2007, 03:05 PM #1Can I just use my OTB 1.1.2 for IPOD?
I know there is no unlock yet for 1.1.2 OTB phones but can I unlock it to the point that I can put music, video and photos on it? Perhaps use Safari to surf with WiFi. I can wait till the phone part works.....

Pretty sure you can.
You have to Downgrade to 1.1.1, Jailbreak using jailbreakme.com
Then install OkToPrep via Installer.
Then Update to 1.1.2 then jailbreak http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html
This will jailbreak and hacktivate your iphone. So you can use everything except the phone and messages.
There are guides out there, just search search search!myRepoSpace.com - Easily create your own Cydia Repo.

I'm having trouble downgrading to 1.1.1. iTunes detects and puts up the message that the Phone needs to be restored but when I click okay, the message and restore screen disappear and it just goes back to iTunes. Is this becasue the phone is not activated?
Anyone know how to get the dowbgrade process to continue? I have the 1.1.1 file...."Where are we going and why am I in this handbag?"

Thanks...I got it to work. It turned out to be my USN port. Plugged it into another one and no problems. I also got the 1604 error on the other port.
Got my iPhone downgraded to 1.1.1 and used Jailbreak. It's working well enough for me now, so I'll wait for a full 1.1.2 unlock to do any more."Where are we going and why am I in this handbag?"

Jailbraking the phone now will make it harder to unlock when the 1.1.2 OTB unlock comes out?

I would not think so. I could just restore the firmware to 1.1.2 and its an OTB locked phone again."Where are we going and why am I in this handbag?"
