Hacked US Iphone 1.1.1 in UK always shows 'E' for non-EDGE carriers

Hi,

Got a hacked Iphone (AT&T origin) to work with UK carriers.

Noted that the 'E' for EDGE symbol is constant even tho' I've used UK SIMs which do not have EDGE network in the UK.

Any ideas whether this is part of the 1.1.1 firmware bug ? I had an O2 Euro Iphone with 1.1.2 and it will show the blue-box/GPRS whenever EDGE is not available.

Can anyone share their experience and perhaps provide a patch to fix this issue?

Thanks
