I just got my iphone from US ,,
suddenly its 41 week and it got the 1.1.1 FW.. yahoo..
I unlocked it and it worked fine..

I thought I will be having an otb 1.1.2 because my cousin bought it from the apple store after the release of the FW 1.1.2 ..

Week 45 onwards will be BL 4.6. I know because i have a week 45

i have a question.. when the 1.1.3 firmware is out and then its possible to unlock an OTB iPhone with 1.1.2 firmware, after unlocking and activating it to use with any sim card, is it possible to upgrade to the 1.1.3 firmware? Or will that re-lock the phone?

If you unlock it using software (suposing there is software available to unlock it ) it will lock again for sure.....

So, no, there is not a good idea to unlock it and then upgrade it to 1.1.3.... but who knows.... there is no 1.1.3 no software unlock for the 1.1.2...

So the 40 shows that I had the earlier boot loader.

If the 4th and 5th numbers of your serial number are 45 or above, you have the new bootloader. Serial is engraved on the back.

I am a bit lost, sorry guys i know these stupid questions probably appear all of the time, I have an IPhone that is 04.02.13_G and the serial starts 7w743 So i assume that means it is on 1.1.2 and is week 43, people are saying that bootloader 4.6 is the issue and is on all versions after wk45. So where does this mean i stand is this in the same situation of sitting and waiting or can it be modded? Sorry to ask a commonly asked question.

tekara - no your in a much better position. You can jailbreak and activate your phone via the program Independence. You nay be able to even unlock your sim card - but I'm not very sure about that one!

I, as well as many posters in this thread have Iphone made after week 46 and in addition to unlocking the phone (so as to use a different carrier ) there is something that Apple has changed, in addition to putting bootloader 4.6 on it. Current methods of trying to jailbreak/active the phones made after this date are not working. In order to jailbreak / activate the phone you have to downgrade to fw ver. 1.0.2 Week 46+ will only allow you to downgrade to 1.1.1.

So right now, I thought I could have at least an iphone with ipod/itouch functions but instead I have a 422$ paperweight. Yeah I'm frustrated and feeling quite stupid.

Update : after some searching I found a link from 11246unlock.com (cool) site that did it for me. brilliant, ahhh I feel better now.

Guys, again no that is not an unlock, because it is impossible, that means no devs no einstein no Jesus can do it without the new secpack, which won't be released till MacWorld.
