please help! I couldn't unlock my phone

Hi,
My fone is actiavted with AT&T, and I am now trying to unlock my fone using a foreign sim card.
My firmware version was 1.0.0 and I upgraded to 1.1.1.
My IMEI # is 01124500.....
I have installed the installer on my phone rite now, if I want to unlock it, do I need to restore my phone again. Could someone point me to a thread that has the correct instructions.
