Oh my God, I had an aweful night...here's my story
I had an unlocked 1.02 iphone with 03.14.08_G firmware.(with installer on it but not jailbroken)

I virginized it with idemocracy2, it went all good. Or so it seemed, I lost wifi access, but thought it's part of the process..
after that in itunes i hit restore press shift, chose a downloaded 1.1.1 firmware, waited and after it finished,
all I had is is that image with cd and the green arrow. When I tried to restore in itunes, it recognised my iphone but i got that annoying 1011 error. Ibrckr wouldn't help cause the arrow was still green.

after restarting windows and itunes a couple of times I somehow managed to pass this 1011 error, by restoring to 1.0.2 , and then I was at the "activate Iphone-connect to itunes" screen. First time I got that @iphone needs repair@, couldn't even use dialpad- big trouble!

new restore to 102 with success, this time I could dial, used the key combinations found on net to go to prefs, make my wifi work,
now I got that imei 0049 incorrect sim error - activate to itunes

used ibrckr to jaibrake, after that used ID2 to activate 102
used ibrckr to install installer, after that anysim 1.02
and voila thank God I have returned to my 102 unlocked iphoned, only this time is jailbraked
I really don't want anymore to get to 1.1.1 because my heart really hurts, I felt tonight like doing stunts without a safety net..

let this be a lesson for all you out there who have the guts to do it, but was not born a hacker

well i guess that answers my question as to whether or not to try taking my iphone from 1.02 to 1.1.2

Just to let you guys know, I successfully upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.1.2 with no problems whatsoever. These are the steps I followed :
1) Virginize 1.0.2 from the guide at this site : (virgnizer 0.4)
2) Restored to 1.1.1
3) Restored to 1.1.2
4) Restored to 1.1.1 and booted it with ibrickr
5) jailbreakme.com + anySim 1.1.2u
6) Installed oktoprep
7) upgraded to 1.1.2
8) ran windows.bat from the jailbreak application in the guide

and presto! unlocked 1.1.2 with absolutely no issues !

I didn't say you can't do it....only for me something went wrong between steps 1 and 2 and after that it was mayhem....luckily I managed to make my 1.0.2 work again so for the moment, no more experiments for me

Its simple. with every iphone i have messed with, you have to restore it to its original firmware and then you upgrade the firmware. Or if your on 1.0.2 virginize that bad boy and READ print by print.

or when upgrading to 1.1.2 make sure SSH IS TURNED ON. I always turned it off when not using it to conserve my battery.

I went through my check list and clicked update. Halfway through the update I realized I forgot to turn SSH on.

Had to restore, unlock (which was a pain using jailbreakme.com for some reason) and try again.

i went from 1.0.2 to 1.1.2 and everything works except my bluetooth....if i go to settings it just says BT UNAVAILABLE...is this because i didnt virginize it....i thought you only need to virginize it if it was unlocked....please help
