noobie question: unlock 1.1.2 and later re-virginize
Hi,
Sorry for the elementary question but here goes. I have an iphone running 1.1.2. Have never done any hacking/modding to it before, just updated to 1.1.2 from 1.1.1 through itunes.
Im going out of the country for a month, and i want to take my iphone with me without having to pay those huge roaming bills. I was wondering if its possible to unlock 1.1.2, and then later when i have returned to the states, revirginize the phone? If so, what would be the process that i would have to follow?
Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks!
Also, my primary computer is a macbook pro running leopard.

Sure, you can Jailbreak it then unlock it using the anySIM1.2.1u App that's available via the installer BUT , in order for the unlock to work you'd have to downgrade your 1.1.2 iPhone to the 1.1.1 firmware, then jailbreak 1.1.1, then install the anySIM1.2.1.u and run it. Point is that the unlocking app can only work on firmware 1.1.1 or 1.0.2. so basically you downgrade to the firmware to 1.1.1 (your modem firmware will still be the latest 04.02.13_G) so modem firmware 04.02.13_G is unlocked by the anysim app on firmware 1.1.1 then once it's unlocked you Update it back to 1.1.2 and jailbreak.
Once you get back from your trip you can re-virginize it back to factory but . . . is all that really worth it ? You decide
PS:- you'll need to check your bootloader ver as well so you might have to downgrade it to . . . imho is it really worth that risk ?
