OTB o2 phone fake activation?

hi guys,
is it possible to bypass the activation on an o2 iphone so that i can use another non iphone o2 sim card in it? i want to use an o2 simplicity SIM... there is a lot of conflicting info on this and just wondering if anyone knew anything for certain?

No. You can only use an o2 contract sim at the moment

erm o2 simplicity is a contract SIM... anyone else know whether its possible to circumvent activation?
