Default How can I make my phone appear unlocked to Apple
    Hi,
My iPhone is faulty. Won't wake from sleep when a call comes in. (V 1.1.1)
In Apple discussions, one response I got was from a guy who had a similar problem and tried everything. He had to take it to Apple and have it replaced.

    My QUESTION:

What do I have to do to make the Jailbreak/ unlock undetectable by Apple's Geniuses in the Apple Store so that I can get this one replaced? Will restore do this?

    Thanks

Both points are irrelevant. Apple will not service/replace your iPhone unless you can show them a verifiable AT&T contract that goes along with your phone.

To be fair, you gave up the right to Apple support when you jailbroke and unlocked.

You could contact the person you bought it off, and see if they will replace it

I think thats a battle that will wage forever. Whats fair and whats not. I think it's rather a matter of ethics. You bought the device, and you deserve to have it serviced. It's Apple's agreement with AT&T, not yours, so why should you have to be bound to it.

Think about it, you buy a car and the dealer says, if you use any other gas other than Shells', we're not going to honor your warranty. Or you buy a TV, and the vendor says, unless you subscribe to DirectTV, you'll get no assistance from us if your TV malfunctions... far fetched analogies? Not really. It's the same principle.

I found your suggestion funny and cruel! Really!

Well for what it's worth. I've restored to factory settings and am just going to go in and tell them that I've tried everything and searched the Apple Forums and the only solution is replacement. Then take a "brass-faced" attitude and demand a replacement of my defective phone, which is just 2 weeks old.

    We'll see what happens.

I don't think that would stand here in the UK, we have some of the strongest consumer biased legal acts in the world. We buy the iphone contract free they fix the phone contract free
