This is a Pre-Guide (windows); hopefully somebody will put time into making a full guide out of this:

*This will fully unlock iPhone ( 1.0.2 virgin or virginised and working 1.1.1) to work with any network with functional YouTube.
*know issues for US iPhone users outside US http://code.google.com/p/iphone-elite/wiki/fix_crashing_phone_sms_apps
*No Known issues for US iphone for US users.

UPDATE:
This method well not UNLOCK iPhones with 1.1.2 OTB with 4.6 bootloader ,but will jailbreak it to be used with sim chips like stealth sim and next sim

*Easer way to unlock:
1.0.2 ======> 1.1.1 install OKtoprep =====> 1.1.2 Jailbreak then unlock
or
1.1.1 ======> 1.1.2 jailbreak then unlock
or
1.1.2 ======> 1.1.1 install Oktoprep =====> 1.1.2 jailbreak then unlock

Use the methods on the guide to downgrade and upgrade

ONCE you get have a Jail broken 1.1.2 :

1. Make sure your are connected to WiFI then Click on installer Icon ( the blue Icon) and wait for it to Refresh sources then the screen will say ( welcome to installer 3!)

2. A. Click on sources on the far bottom right of the screen, screen will change to show sources, then you press Edit on far Top right of the screen, you will see red marks appearing by the sources, then you will have to press Add on the far top left of the sceen then type ====> http://rep.frenchiphone.com then press ok, then press done on the far top right then press refresh on the far top left.
B. Wait for sources to refresh ,scroll down you will notice a source has been added named FrenchiPhone under AtestFrenchiPhone.com, if you dont see it refresh sources again, and if you still dont see it , that means you types the address wrong so you need to re do the prosses starting from 2.A.
C. After Adding the Frenchiphone source, you need to press Install the second icon on the far bottom of the screen on the left, then scroll down to FrenchiPhone.com and click on it to see a selection of apps. click on anySIM1.21u then click install on thefar top right and wait for it to install, then click the home botton and watch the phone do a soft boot .
D. After the soft boot slide to unlock and notice AnySim1.21u's red icon on the springboard( dont install it yet)
E. IMPORTANT.......insert a NON At&t sim card then go to settings>general>autolock>never setting the autolock to never lock on its own then go to settings>Airplane mode>ON turning the Airplane mode on
IF YOU DONT DO THOSE TWO STEPS AnySIM1.21u WILL CRASH WHILE INSTALLING.
F. Goback to the home screen then click on AnySim1.21u ( the red lock icon)press ok then slide to unlock then scroll down andpress (ok, unlock my iphone)and wait for it to install.
G. after it is done go to settings>Airplane Mode>off then restart you iphone.





*This will not virginise or UnBrick you phone so start with a working virginised 1.0.2 or any working 1.1.1.
*OF COURSE YOU NEED WI-FI.
*this method was used on a US originally 1.1.1 OTB (not sure it would work on 1.1.2 OTB, i don't see why not). So it should work on 1.1.1 OTB and lower for sure.
*This pre-guide is for EXPRIENCED users only, you should know how to use winSCP or FileZilla , and know how to move files fo and to iPhone brefor using this Guide .

*it is best to have those files handy:

- Firmware 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 and 1.1.2
- iTunes 7.4 (7.5 didn’t work for me) "in pack"
- iBrickr v0.91 "in pack"
- iAsign "in pack"
- anySIM 1.2u "in pack"
- lockdownd 1_1_2 "in pack"
- Filezilla sftp (winSCP didn’t work for me) "in pack"
- WiNnstaller "in pack"
- AppTappinsaller "in pack"
- 1.1.2_jailbreak "in pack" download new version here http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html

- you will also need 2 sim cards one AT&T non-activated card and a T-Mobile sim card (or any Non-AT&T)

Cycle

* 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 ===> 1.1.2 ====> 1.0.2 ( this will put modem firmware 04.02.13_G @ 1.0.2)

* jailbreak/activate/unlock in 1.0.2 (this will unlock modem firmware 04.02.13_G @ 1.0.2)=======> 1.1.1 then jailbreak/oktoprep (this will prep for 1.1.2 jailbreaking)

* update to 1.1.2 then jailbreak/activate ===> you will get activated and unlocked modem (04.02.13_G) @ 1.1.2



PLEASE READ THE WHOLE PRE_GUIDE BEFORE STARTING!!!!!!


1.(Update to 1.1.2.) Start with connecting you iphone with any AT&T SIM in it ( not the one legally activated )to iTunes and sync , then press update , this will update your phone to 1.1.2 and you modem to (04.02.13_G) , when it is done a picture of a plug will appear on the iphone and it will tell u to slide to unlock in Gibberish, on iTunes it will tell you, that you need iTunes 7.5 or higher to activate you phone.

2.(Downgrade to 1.0.2) While the iPhone is still connected to iTunes ,Put the iPhone in DFU mode (by pressing sleep and home button till you phone turns off and the screen turns black release only the sleep button, keep holding the home button till iTunes recognizes the phone on Restore mode).
iTunes will offer you to restore the phone, you press Shift and Select restore, a browser window will pop up, browse where you have your 1.0.2 firmware and highlight it then click ok, and wait for it to be done.

3.(Downgrade to 1.0.2) A. When the restore is done an error message will appear click ok, the phone will have the yellow triangle on it, Start iBrickr v0.91 it will offer you to boot the phone, click boot then go to main menu , if the screen turns green you need to redo the 1.0.2 restore, if red , wait about 40-50 seconds and the phone will restart and you will get the " Activate " screen .


Now you have an iPhone firmware 1.0.2 with modem firmware (04.02.13_G), so take a break

4.(Jailbreak/activate/unlock) A. Using WiNstaller(will close iTunes automatically) and the unactivated AT&T SIM in the phone, click Activate ( This will jailbreak/Activate )and wait till its done , then you see phone activated press ok then you will see your springboard. Open appTappinstaller on you computer and chose firmware 1.0.2 then install the Installer.app ( the blue Icon in the Iphone SpringBoard you will see later) then it will restart and wait for it to go back on main springBoard.

B. Connect to Wi-Fi and click the Blue Installer icon, and wait for it to refresh, it will tell you that it found an update, click install and after its done click the home button and wait for the iphone to do a soft reset then slide to unlock. Using the same method install Community Sources+ BSD Subsystem+ OpenSSH in that order and click the home button and wait for the soft reset after each install.

c. Restart the phone and with change the SIM to a T-mobile SIM or any other NON-AT&T SIM, then go to settings>general>autolock>never then press home button. open FileZilla ( or winSCP) then connect to your phone ,the first try will take about a minute to connect put your IP address where it says Host : 192.168.0.100 in my case , Username: root , password :dottie and port:22 , open anySIM 1.2u rename the folder inside it to anySIM.app then copy the anySIM.app folder to /Application/ to your iPhone (I assumed you know how to work with SCP ) and set permissions on both anySIM folder and the anySIM file inside the folder on your iPhone to 755 on fileZilla ( Octal 0775 on Winscp ) then restart your phone.

D. After the restart you will see the anySIM icon with a red lock on your springboard don’t click it yet .Using WiNnstaller we will activate the T-mobile SIM (in my case) by clicking Activate, after its done click on the anySIM red icon and wait for it to be done( takes about 5-7 min). after its done it should tell you phone was unlocked successfully IF NOT redo step number 4.c carefully and if that didn’t work means @@@@ you did not follow instructions and you have to revirginise your baseband the start over @@@@ if that went will ,we will activate again with iAsign using windows commands, go to start>run>cmd a black command window will pop up, change directory to where you installed iAsign in my case on c , so cd ciAsign then press enter then type ( iasign --automatic iPhoneActivation_private.pem ) after its done it should say activated, wait about a minute and see if you got signal on the phone with the NON_AT$T sim, if not just restart you phone. and you will.

****** if you got here congrats. you unlocked baseband (04.02.13_G)*********** so take a break

E. Connect to iTunes and sync if you have to, so u can get to the main iPhone Screen, then press SHIFT + UPDATE not restore and browse to firmware 1.1.1 then chose and press ok, wait for it to finish , iTunes will display and error press ok then take phone off DFU mode using iBrickr, Open iBrickr and chose to boot then go to main menu , if the screen turns green you need to redo the 1.1.1 update USING SHIFT AND RESTORE not update , if red , wait about 40-50 seconds and the phone will restart and you will get the " Activate " screen .


5. (jailbreak/Oktoprep)A. Assuming that you got the "activate" screen close iTunes and slide to unlock to the emergency keypad , dial *#307# the phone will ring then press back space to clear the numbers, then press 1 then dial, the phone will ring again, press answer the press hold , the phone will ring again press dismiss , then go to contacts, add 2 contacts, one is: name p and url prefs://1f and the other is j url http://jailbreakme.com, save them and go in contact p and click on prefs://1f, this will take to set up you Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi and press home button, this will take you to "activate" screen , slide to unlock then dial 1 the phone sill ring , answer and press hold , it will ring again then press dismiss , that will take to contacts, select contact j and press on url http://jailbreakme.com . this will open the browser to AppSnapp Webapp site just chose " Install AppSnapp" and wait about 2 minutes , the phone will restart and you have a jailbroken 1.1.1.

B. Don’t worry if you are not getting signal on you phone , you are not suppose to on Firmware 1.1.1 .Now click the Blue Installer icon, and wait for it to refresh, it will tell you that it found an update, click install and after its done click the home button and wait for the iphone to do a soft reset then slide to unlock.

C. Open iTunes, Sync or setup if you have to and make sure you are on the main screen with update and restore buttons available. NOW on your phone click installer ( blue icon) and install Oktoprep it is under tweaks 1.1.1. and wait for it to say it is ok Blah bLah blah , then press home button and wait for a soft reset.(( do not restart phone ))


6.( update to 1.1.2) A. On iTunes press update . it will update you phone to 1.1.2 without errors , wait for it to finish, a picture of a plug will appear on the iphone and it will tell u to slide to unlock in Gibberish, on iTunes it will tell you, that you need iTunes 7.5 or higher to activate you phone.

B. close iTunes and open 1.1.2_jailbreak folder and click windows.bat , java application will open, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK INSTALL SSH. if a message popped up saying " this is only for phone with oktoprep yada yada yada" you need to Restore back to 1.1.1 and start back at step number 5, if it worked just wait for it to finish, press ok then restart the phone. You will see that the phone will reboot by its self after u restart it NOW YOU HAVE A JAILBROKEN 1.1.2

If you use the latest 1.1.2 you dont have to patch lockdownd any more , new 1.1.2 jailbreak activates too so ( no need for last step ), download it here http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/site/112jb.html




C. ( only use with 1.1.2 jailbreak in pack see step above) open FileZilla ( winSCP didn’t work for me at this point ) then connect to your phone ,the first try will take about a minute to connect put your IP address where it says Host : 192.168.0.100 in my case , Username: root , password :alpine and port:22 ,on you computer open the lockdownd 1_1_2. On you phone go to /usr/libexec/ and rename the lockdownd file in /usr/libexec to lockdownd.bak the copy the lockdownd file from loackdownd 1_1_2 to /user/libexec on your phone and set permissions on it to 755 on fileZilla ( Octal 0775 on Winscp ) then restart your phone.

But you have a little error inside:
it must be prefs://1f not pref://1f :-)

Saltey.... I have followed your guide to a T but for some reason anySIM1.2 is crying about something. I click to unlock it and it says copying firmware... please wait... and then I get an error that is so fast that I can't read it, it then kicks me back to the homescreen... iPhone not unlocked. When I downloaded anySIM you state to put the anySim.app folder in /Applications. Do you have to rename is to anySIM.app? and not just anySIM1.2?

Nevermind I realized it had to just be anySim.app Also this guide is GREAT!!! im running 1.1.2 on T-mobile! And with the new Jailbreak you don't even have to change the lockdown file because it doesn ACTIVATION now as well!!!

if i have an unlocked 1.1.1 with anysim, cant i just start from the oktoprep step, or do i have to update to 1.1.2 and downgrade all the way down to 1.0.2?

other writeups say that i can install oktoprep and go from there, but im not sure about this particular one

Marinermoose, which version iPhone did you start with? Is it an Out of the Box 1.1.2 phone? I'm still trying to see what possible methods are out there that can get by bootloader 4.6.

The folder you have to copy to /Applications/ on you phone is suppose to be renamed anySIM.app and the file inside it should be called anySIM , same caps, make sure you set permissions to 0755 this is important

mr sidoku , you have to go back to 1.0.2 to unlock baseband firmware, it can be unlocked in 1.1.1 but it is harder because of the lockdownd file.

apercele , if you wana use oktoprep on your unlocked 1.1.1 and updated it to 1.1.2 then jailbreak it , you will have an activated NOT UNLOCKED.
