jailbreaking an unlocked 1.1.1 phone

I'm still new to using the iPhone.

I bought a unlocked 1.1.1 phone that has AppTapp installer on it. I would like to add jailbreak applications as well which is AppSnap right?

Is it safe to Jailbreak my phone? I'm just worried that my iphone will become locked.

If this is possible how do I jailbreak my iPhone? I tried installing thru my iPhone safari browser but it just seems to freeze and do nothing.
